Less than 24-hours until we leave for Dade City, Florida. I am beyond excited to see what God has planned for this Spring Break through the Habitat for Humanity team. I am extremely thankful to go to a school that is focused on the Great Commission and sends out students on mission locally and globally!
Habitat for Humanity is an organization that builds homes for people who do not have the financial means. It may not be a direct evangelism mission trip, but our focus is the same as Beach Reach and any other mission trip. I may not get to share the gospel to the homeowner or to the other workers, but I pray they will see Jesus in my team and I as we serve them next week. I pray for their hearts to be open to God's love. I pray for those who get an opportunity to share the Gospel that they will have boldness and wisdom to do so. I pray for God's love to be known through students at Beach Reach, Habitat for Humanity, and in Chile, because we are all on the same team working for the same goal, which is to love people and to tell them about a saving relationship with God by faith in Jesus Christ.
Jesus tells us the two greatest commandments are to "love the Lord your God with all your soul and all your mind", and the second greatest is to "love your neighbor as yourself" (Matthew 22:37-39).
My prayer for my team and for other DBU teams is that we do not forget who our neighbors are. I pray we will love the neighbors we will never see again. I pray for any barriers to be broken so relationships can be made. I pray that we will love every person we meet because God loves them just as much as He loves us. I pray that we will keep the same attitude as Christ and humble ourselves to serve one another, (Philippians 2:5) even if it means doing the most tedious and insignificant task. I pray for strength for all teams; physical and emotional strength, to persevere even when we are tired. I pray that we will leave a legacy of God's Kingdom in the hearts of the people we meet, even if won't get to see the results on this side of Heaven.
And finally, I pray for all DBU students to be bold for Jesus Christ wherever they are at over Spring Break. I pray that we would be confident ambassadors of Jesus Christ in Dallas, Texas, Florida, Chile, and to the ends of the earth!
"And pray in the Spirit on all occasions with all kinds of prayers and requests. With this in mind, be alert and always keep on praying for all the Lord's people. Pray also for me, that whenever I speak, words may be given to me so that I will fearlessly make known the mystery of the gospel, for which I am an ambassador in chains. Pray that I may declare it fearlessly as I should." -Ephesians 6:18-20
