Resting Sheep

I am always amazed at God's mercy, grace and steadfast love! I am like a sheep who wanders off because of silly, no excusable distractions. And when I decide to keep going with no rest, even if what I am doing is "good", I get tired and worn down and I immediately assume that God is distant. But in reality it is I, the stupid wandering sheep, who is distant. But God is too gracious and compassionate to leave the lost sheep and wandering sheep where they are. He never fails to remind me of His GREAT, MERCIFUL LOVE

When I doubt and fear for my life, God doesn't want me to hide those feelings. He WANTS me to bring them to Him. God has shown me these past few months that just because I found God once, does not mean I should ever stop seeking Him!

"Why, O LORD, do you stand far off? Why do you hide yourself in times of trouble?" -Psalm 10:1

God has shown me time and time again that when I feel like God  is far away, all I have to do is call out to Him, even if it feels like I'm talking to the ceiling. If I seek earnestly, God promises I will find Him!

"But you, O God, do see trouble and grief; You consider it to take it in hand. The victim commits himself to You; You are the helper of the fatherless...The LORD is King for ever and ever; the nations will perish from His land. You hear, O LORD, the desire of the afflicted; You encourage them, and You listen to their cry. defending the fatherless and the oppressed, in order that man, who of the earth, may terrify (fear) no more." -Psalms 10:14,16-18

"Then you will call upon Me and come and pray to Me, and I will listen to you. You will seek Me and find Me when you seek Me with all your heart." -Jeremiah 29:12-13

"Come near to God and He will come near to you...Humble yourselves before the Lord,  and He will lift you up." -James 4:8,10.

Jesus said, "Come to me, all you who are weary and heavy burdened, and I will give you rest. Take My yoke upon you and learn from Me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy and my burden is light." -Matthew 11:28-30

Jesus said, "I have told you these things, so that in Me you may have peace. In this world you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world." -John 16:33

"I sought the LORD, and He answered me; He delivered me from all my fears...The  LORD is close to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit." -Psalm 34:4.18

"Cast all your anxiety on Him because He cares for you." -1 Peter 5:7

I could write a novel for all the verses God has shown me about resting in Him, but then this blog post would be too long.

The point is, while I tire myself out day-by-day of worries that I can't control, God NEVER gets tired. He is big enough and strong enough to hold ALL of my fears, anxieties, doubts, worries, anger, sadness and happiness! God created THE WHOLE WORLD, which means NOTHING is bigger than Him! Even though I am a dumb sheep who tries to go her own way, I worship a God who is smart enough to know when I stray and He never gets tired of my cries for help. When I mess up again and I think God's patience is wearing thin, His gentleness and loving-kindness waits with open arms. And the only thing I can do is serve and love Him with all my heart, soul, mind and strength! Giving everything to God does not mean I will have no more troubles. I'm still human who needs to be constantly pruned by her Creator until I am in the presence of the Lord! But going to God with my problems, He gives me a peace that surpasses my little or no understanding of the situation and assures me that He is in control, He knows what is best. And If my pain is to bring Him glory, then bring on the pain! Because I know that there is an even GREATER reward for me in Heaven for my perseverance in this life. (Hebrews 12:1-3 and 2 Timothy 4:7).

"When doubts come to mind
and fears build up inside,
I can't find a place to hide,
anxiety destroys my happy jive.

But then I remember my hope
I see the greatest love that I know!
The Father waits with arms stretched wide
and He commands me tell stress goodbye!
He reminds me of what He's done
through the death of His One and Only Son!
Jesus overcame the grave
and now I can freely say, "I won"
because Jesus is the victorious One!

Hallelujah! I praise God, the Mighty Warrior!
Hallelujah! I praise God, I'm an overcomer!
Hallelujah! I praise God, because of His love for me!
Hallelujah! I praise God, because He loves faithfully!
Hallelujah! I praise God, because He wipes away my tears!
Hallelujah! I praise God, because He is the same even after all these years!

Hallelujah! Hallelujah! Praise God!
He takes away all my doubt!
Praise God!
He calms every fear!
Praise God!
He wipes away every single tear!
Hallelujah! Hallelujah! Praise God!
Jesus is my Redeemer!
Jesus is my Sustainer!
Hallelujah! Praise God!
Through Jesus I am an overcomer!
Praise God!"

Jesus says, "But seek first His Kingdom, and these things will be given to you as well. Do not be afraid, little flock, for your Father has been pleased to give you the Kingdom. Sell your possessions and give to the poor. Provide purses for yourselves that will not wear out, a treasure in heaven that will not be exhausted, where no thief comes near and no moth destroys. For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also." -Luke 12:31-34
